Hunting
a very easy way to check the wind while hunting: find a empty bottle such as a eyedrop, or something that you can sqeeze the contents out of. fill it with flour or baby powder. simple as that. all you have to do is sqeeze the bottle and the light flour will float in the direction of wind.
ive used that before
yep it works pretty good
Although I don't smoke I always carry a mini lighter. Handy for lots of things - thawing a frozen lock (heat the key, not the door) fixing that ball-point pen that won't write (heat the tip a couple seconds), finishing off the end of string, cord and rope, and of course starting fires.
The slightest breeze will push the flame.
