Hunting
I saw a BIG BUCK the other day and I was wondering when I could start looking for the shed antlers?

I usually start in February.
It depends on where you are at? Around here the earliest they start dropping is in about a week from now. 20th of December or so. I do the majority of my deer antler shed hunting in January here. I'm in northern/central idaho area if that gives you any indication.
Good luck and hope you find em!
I usually start in February and I'm from Massachusetts. Good luck.
I'm from Iowa, I usually start in Feburary. This year I'm thinking they might hold their head gear up here longer just because they aren't having such a harsh cold winter and havent been getting the snow so they will have alot less stress.
febuary for me.
I might make a pilgrimage north here this weekend to set up my trail cam and do some shed hunting. If I go I'll let you know how it goes and if I turn up any sheds!
I live in central Indiana, when would be a good time to start shed hunting?
Tstone, ...February, late February.
I just picked up a fresh antler this past weekend. Its a 4 point with a small kicker off the back of the eye guard, so almost a 5 point. Couldn't locate the other side, but would probably score around 135 with both sides.
sounds like a fun.
I just keep an eye out for them during turkey and preadator seasons. Thats from january to may, and they WILL drop them during that time.
Sheds also sell, for 5 or 6 bucks a pound. FIND A DEALER NOW!!!
most likely beginning in feburary is the best time until april. although i have gotten lucky and found some during august. i guess you just have to be in the right place at the right time!
Some of the deer have lost their antlers in Oklahoma, some still are carrying their antlers. I usually wait until March because our antlers don't have much risk of being eaten. If you live somewhere like Ohio where they get eaten, you might start earlier.
Hi,
Hi went shed hunting 2 days ago on March/24/2012 and found a couple of small sheds and one huge shed with a broken tine and two kickers. Thankyou all for your help. I hope to keep i touch with yall.
Febuary
I recommend running a trail camerea in your area to see when about 50% of the bucks have dropped. Then I would make one trip, and another in about 2-3 weeks.
