when grouse hunting in thick woods look down after flushing a bird often times a second or even third bird will be on the ground.

Ya... We flushed 1 then we kept walking up the logging rode then we flushed 2 MORE! oh my gosh then on the way back we flushed 2 more. But... grouse season was NOT open! If it was we would have been packing and gutting the rest of the day!!!

Those second and third birds will often wait you out and let you walk by them rather than fly. It pays to stop a while at port arms and wait for them to lost their cool. They erupt suddenly and try to get a tree between you and them, so be ready for a fast snap shot.
