Typical or non-typical?

Uploaded on February 22, 2009

For years my dad dreamed of shooting a big non-typical buck, I however would love to put my tag on a big typical basket framed buck. What do you think is the better trophy, and why?

Typical. It just feels like that deer probably had healthier genes, and it's a personal preference of mine to like a 5x5 typical over a 17 point non-typical. I'll probably take flack for that, but i'd rather have a typical hanging on my wall (which i do, btw)

It's always nice to see some junk but a nice clean typical rack looks the best.

I have a couple decent typicals so i'd love to hang a good freak on the wall. A typical shows how perfect and symetrical nature can be, but nontypicals prove how unpredictable it really is. Either way its nice to have meat on the table and bones on the wall to remember the hunt by. Deductions...what deductions.

They are both trophies in their own way. Do not pass on either and it is alright to dream for both, they are not women they don't care whom or what you dream about.

They are both like beautiful women, blond, brunette, red head. We are going to wake up in the middle of the night dreaming of them with a smile on our face. Or go with choice C all of the above.

I really don't care. What ever one comes first is the one that will be greeted by some flying lead. Happy hunting!

I would rather have a big ole nasty non typical with atleast two drop tines and double brow tines... in velvet. I know tall list.

I think I would want to kill a nice non-typical. I've killed a nice typical 8 point for my first buck but anyone can kill one like that. I think the perks of a non-typical is that the deer is unique and nothing is like it. Its just the feeling of accomplishing nobody else has. A good non-typical is just like a snowflake....Unique.

I would take the nontypical, something about a dirty rack makes them look a little more rugged.

To me there is nothing more beautiful than a big typical buck.

A big symmetrical typical rack is really something to admire, but there is something to be said for the character and uniqueness that comes with a non typical giant.

I love the character on the non typicals, there is just something about a drop tine that makes me what to shot one more and more.

I think they both look good, but i think if a 10 pointer typical and a 10 pointer non-typical i would probably shoot the typical.
