Until Hell freezes over!

Years ago I said I would never own a Savage until “HELL FREEZES OVER”! When Savage came out with their AccuTrigger it caught my attention. Then they came out with the Model 10ML Smokeless Muzzleloaders. O’ Really!! Then my Brother Dale bought one and he says it’s the most accurate rifle he has. I just have to get one and I did!
According to the loading data

and with 75 grains of IMR4198 or filling a 338 Win Mag plum full, it thumps a 45 Cal 250 grain just as fast as a 180 grain out of a 30-06 or 175 out of a 7mm Rem Mag or a 500 grain at 2100 fps, Ouch! My shoulder hurts just thinking about it. It sue sounds like a 458 Win Mag, you just load it from the front!

I wonder how long it’s going to take for the rest of the Firearms Industry to catch up? Savage is starting to make a comeback and if Thompson/Center Arms and the rest don’t wake up, they will be left in their dust!

Back in 2000, I called Thompson/Center Arms and asked if and when they would change the barrel twist on their 223 so we can shot 60 grain plus bullets and Muzzle Loaders going Smokeless. They hung up on me but its funny how Savage came out with this idea and I wonder if the line was wiretapped by Savage, just joking!

Back in 1990 I wrote Hornady about producing a 250 grain Soft Point Boat Tail for us in Alaska. Steve Hornady wrote back saying they had no plans!

I remember a story years ago about a Firearms Manufacturer from Europe visited one of the leading gun factories here in the U.S... The U.S. person asked the European Gentleman what he thought about American Made Guns?
He replied with one word,

“UNFINISHED!”

What’s that word, American Innovation?

I got the wrong job!

By the way, did you know the Ballistic Tip is very old design and the original Ballistic Tip is called the Remington Bronze Point®!

The Bronze Point bullets Literally had a Bronze Point, and they are actually still made today. The problem with them is they are nose heavy, instead of having the weight in the rear of the bullet. The Ballistic Tips may have been based off of the Bronze Points but they are not the same bullet.

The reason many of them are not making smokeless muzzleloaders, is because the are not legal in many of the states to use as muzzleloaders. That is an expensive investment for something you can't legally use to hunt with in most areas. It would be like Titleist making non conforming drivers, yes people would buy them buth not that many.
