Agreed Shane. If i could find a Savage '99 in .250/3000 Savage, i would soon be a lot lighter in the wallet.
Remington 700 30-06
Remington 870 no gun in the world is better.
My favorite rifle is the Tikka T 3 Lite in a 338 Federal and 300 WSM
Only gun I use is a Savage .270.
My son seems this question is quite broad covering may criteria, BUT he is a GUN NUT, and believes that the M1 rifle is the King with serving in a World War that basically help save our way if life.I say the legend it left with the 30.06 is reason enough to hail it as a great American Invention!

Remington 7MM Mag...............
Winchester 30-30 same as my father and his father. GREAT GUN open sights, light,never jams, cheap to run,and in heavy brush a neck shot is a sure killer.One has to be a bit of a quite hunter to get in range but it is worth it.
I like my rem. 870 or marlin 30-30 4 hunting in the rough stuff or my rem. 30-06 for the long ones
The best gun? That's easy. The one you can shoot accurately- ay, there's the rub.

To this day the best rifle Ive ever shot is the marlin 30-30. model 336a
Has to be the Remington Mod 700 in 30-06. Works every time!
If we all liked the same gun wouldn't the different gun makers cry their eyes out ?
Dirty Harry would say that the best gun of all time is the .44 mag. As for me, the gun I have enjoyed shooting the most for the past 25 years has been my .243 Remington 600 Mohawk. I have literally taken dozens of whitetail deer with it.
