Deer Hunting

PA crossbow allowance

Uploaded on June 18, 2009

What do you think of the new rules regarding the use of crossbows by any hunter in the state of Pennsylvania? I think crossbows are great for a young hunter who doesn't have much strength yet or great also for an injured or elderly hunter who may have trouble with a compound bow. Crossbows just seem too much like a gun to me. I realize that the archer still has to be able to get a deer into range while crossbow hunting but that is only half the difficulty of archery season. Traditionally, an archer would have to be able to hold his/her composure to make the shot, but with a crossbow that seems much easier. what do you think about it?

Although i'm not impressed with Xbow hunters, i don't think it's the end of the world.

A BOW IS A BOW NO MATTER HOW YOU HOLD IT.
They (XB) are older than "traditional" bows by the way.
Bow hunting is hunting and XB's are here to stay.

The only advantage is not having to sneak in the draw. Compounds win in every other category.

I think that making a quick clean kill is the most important part of any hunt when a shot is fired regardless of the type of weapon it is fired from. Hunters in several states are caught in the same arguement over methods of kill, but regardless of the weapon choice, a dead dear is venison in the freezer, and that is something every hunter can appreciate.

I HAVE USED CROSSBOWS FOR MANY YEARS AND COMPOUND ARE THE SAME
A RELEASE IS A TRIGGER. COMP. ARE FASTER THAN 90% OF X BOWS . BUT YOU WANT TO BE IMPRESSED SHOT AGAINST ME IN A COMPETION.

With crossbows legal in Ohio, I can hunt with my AND my dad. Neither can use a compound, but both can use a crossbow. I am blessed the three of us can hunt together.
