Hunting
well my buddie and me were in montana hunting elk in the rockies just south of bozeman, we had horses so we drove up as far as we could then we took the horses the rest of the distance. when we got to our secret hunting spot we set up camp, this was in the fall so it was cold, and there was a creek about a 100 yards from our tent that had fish in it. so after we set up camp we decided to go fishing for supper. we only got a bucket load of fish and went back to our campsite to eat them. after we got done with them we went to bed right away because we were getting up early. in the middle of the night i heard rustling around outside and the horses were throwing a fit. i got up to see what was going on. i took the gun just in case. when i get outside i see a grizzly bear in the beam of the flash lite. needless to saw i was scared shitless. i yelled at the bear and thank god it ran away. my friend was still sleeping and i did not tell him about it because he is afraid of bears. the next day we went hunting and i got a 5*6 bull and my buddie got a cow, we qourted it and took them to the camp site. we went to bed early but i figured that we should not keep the meat in the camp becuase of the grizzly, so we hung it in a tree about 50 yards away from the tent. i had an erie feeling that night so i could not sleep. i was laying there and i heard to noise again so i figured it was the grizzley again, so i got up and went out. i saw the grizley again but this time it would not run away when i yelled at it. so i looked around and i saw another one behind me. so i shot in the sky and they ran away. that was the last straw for me. the next morning we packed up and got the hell out of there.
That is not the worst by far. The worst would have been the bears maualed yall and you died. Just be thankful you are alive.
Yes I think you were very lucky
You were very fortunate and you had a great experience to tell your kids someday, and a great bull. I have yet to shoot a bull elk, only cows and calves
Congrats on the bull and being alive to tell about it. I am sure the smell of those fish brought the grizzlie to your camp. It's best to clean fish right at the river or lake you caught them. Bears have the most amazing sense of smell. Once they know where they can find food, they will come back. You are smart to have left.
May have been a rush and scared you a little but to me that still sounds better than the best day at work, fish and elk sounds like a good hunting trip.
