John Boehner previews State of the Union speech.
House Speaker John Boehner on Sunday insisted that the next year will be spent on policy, not politics, but said it's "pathetic" if President Obama tries to offer the "same old" ideas at Tuesday's State of the Union that he's been offering in the past three years.
The speaker, appearing on "Fox News Sunday," said those policies haven't helped the economy.
"They made it worse," he said. "And if that's what the president is going to talk about Tuesday night, I think it's pathetic. I think it's time for the president to listen to his own jobs council. It's time to go in a new direction.

It seems Squeaker Boehner hasn’t been shown the news about our unemployment figures being the lowest they’ve been since April 2008
Or the fact that GM is once again the worlds largest car company and posting profits.
And he likewise hasn’t seen that the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 60% since Obama’s inauguration.
Now that’s pathetic.
First of the govt fudges the figures. Near 16% of the workin person doesn't ahve a full time job. Obama is the food stamp President, and it is a very appropriate title. And you are proud of our enemployment numbers? After spending a trillion dollars on shovel ready jobs?...and now turning away the Keystone Pipeline? Talk about pathetic. You are a total imbecile hoski..a bad joke that will be corrected this Nov. Three things Obama highlighted in last years State of the UNION..Green Energy projects, and we got Solyndra, and all of them have failed. He highlighted Rapid Transit, and it never happened. Tomorrow will be more BS. Rich don't pay their fair share pushing class warfare. Congress won't pass my proposals, and none of them could even get through his Democrat Senate. And go in a new direction? lol! NAW, more socialism will do just fine, why change.
The unemployment figures are not realistic and have been 'cooked' by the administration. I will never buy another GM product. It's the prospect of Obama getting ousted that has caused the market to climb.
Obama has been a little weird lately, breaking out into song and laughing out loud as if he's in on some kind of joke. People noticed it beginning at around 7pm last Saturday night.
Boehner should just quit. He hasn't gotten his Republican controlled house to pass any meaningful legislation. You know the kind that can become law. I haven't noticed Obama vetoing anything. Boehner only needs a simple majority, and he has one, he's even got a few Dems that would vote his way if it were anything remotely sensible, even if it wasn't. Why can't the guy come up with the votes?
Why don't we have a jobs bill? Build some trains or some windmills or something. At least drainage ditches on forest service roads. Good Grief I've never seen a more useless congress.
"Wierd lately"....a classic sound bit from the rat. The guy has smiled and laughed all through his election campaign laughing at his own false statements in front of his leftist base audience saying CHANGE a gazillion times. Catch him in a lie in one of the few interviews he will ever do with someone that will ask him a provocative question..."Well look,"...the big smile, and laughter, and now no one of any commonsense listens to the guy anymore...even tonite.
;-)
Well, pretty difficult to have meaningful dialog when folks believe everything is "cooked" to their disadvantage.
Pretty convenient living in that form of reality.
Boehner is a disgrace, and I say that knowing he represents my state. How can the country take him seriously when he gets on 60 Minutes and proclaims to the world compromise isn't a part of his vocabulary?
IMO, he passed on the real chance of meaningful legislation when he bowed to a minority part of the House, 80 members which were part of the House vote winning him the Speakership. He caved to their demands during the Debt limit negotiations when he could have gained bipartisan support, instead we have partisan gridlock.
Why hasn't the Senate passed a Constitutionally required budget for 1000 days???? Why hasn't the Senate voted on any of the bipartisan House bills passed in the last year? Boehner even admitted that passing more laws isn't the way to increase Americans liberty and freedom and economic security. The less Washington does the better off the American individual is... Why doesn't the media shine a light on the inaction of the Senate? As Allen West says,"don't try to blow smoke up my butt". Only a wealthy country can afford a clean environment.
Lab...That is cus of the approach the Pighunter just mentioned to a young fellow on this thread asking, "Who should I listen to?" And the Pig answers him with "NO one that offends anyone." And that answers your question as to why. Decent folks that want to conduct their lives decently, bring up their kids in a morally acceptable way are losing! They are they ones being attacked for acting in a decent manor. This politically correct thing, and "can't we just get along", and the need for bipartison BS plays into the hands of the left..just furthers their agenda. Look at the standing ovations that Newt is getting by spelling out, in no uncertain terms, the lefts agenda, and what it has done to the country! The rats, and the hoski's want to minimize the Tea Party movement as a bunch of radicals that are a non-factor...and that couldn't be further from the truth. And they want to maximize the WO movement as a legitimate movement! The Tea Party will be a HUUUUGE factor in this year's elections, and not because they feel like acting like the Pig, and the rest of the spineless Republicans say you should act vs. the left's agenda.
Labrador you say the less Washington does the better yet bemoan the lack of action by the senate. There's not much I can discuss with you until you decide just what in the heck you want.
rat, your logic just astounds me as usual...
The democrat controlled senate has been a total disaster. Might as well shut the place down. They get nothing accomplished. And until Harry is out of there not much will get accomplished. There are some decent democrats in the Senate that would like to be re-elected, and Harry sure isn't helping them get re-elected so they often don't go along with him.
whitetailfreek,
What's so hard to understand?
First Lab12 complains about the Senate's inaction (even after I've pointed out the huge increase of filibuster use)...then takes the opposite opinion that the less they do the better.
Time and again the Senate has refused to consider legislation that has passed in the House.
Total Private Sector jobs have remained unchanged at about 109 million since Obama became presdent. This is way down from a high of 115.7 million in September 2007 while Bush was president. Obama promised to add 5 million jobs... looks like he failed. Thus, he does not deserve a second term. (figures not seasonally adjusted).
The Bureau of Labor Statistics uses 'seasonally adjusted' and otherwise 'cooked' values. For example, 2.5 million were not counted:
"About 2.5 million persons were marginally attached to the labor force in December, little different from a year earlier. (The data are not seasonally adjusted.) These individuals were not in the labor force, wanted and were available for work, and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in
the 4 weeks preceding the survey. (See table A-16.)

Didn't accomplish the 5 million figure huh?
I guess that filibuster increase doesn't affect that.
It's pretty amusing in a way, put up every roadblock possible and then complain that nothing gets done.
Much like the GOP running up huge debt and then complaining the debt is too big.
Kinda like an arsonist whining the fire is too hot.
Oh, and PigHunter...I'm going to need a program guide as to which Govt. figures are cooked and which aren't.
