Peaslee Wildlife Management Area is the second largest WMA in New Jersey, and is home to an unusually large variety of wildlife, including game birds, due to its diverse vegetation. However, Bobwhite quail numbers are at an all-time low in the state, and habitat loss is to blame.
Volunteers will eliminate forest canopy by girdling or hack-and-spray method, and plant warmseason grasses as well. The long-term goal is to benefit the entire suite of uplandwildlife with an emphasis on northern bobwhite quail.
