Q:Two part survey - Longest shot you feel comfortable taking at any game animal for an ethical kill? Personal best of longest shot you've made to date (hunting or target shooting)? Firearms, archery, crossbow, blow-gun, slingshots, nerf gun, super soaker... I want to hear everybody's stories!
Q:I've been reading about "Operation Something Bruin," which was supposed to be an investigation into alleged bear poaching in North Carolina. It sounds like overzealous LEOs getting out of hand, and creating trouble to justify their $2 million undercover investigation which turned up some alleged misdemeanors, littering included. In the end, undercover offices from NC, Georgia and the Forest Service ended up doing SWAT raids on families, seizing tons of stuff that didn't have anything to do with bear poaching (like boats, construction equipment, and a heirloom call collection given to a child). Several young children are reportedly suffering PTSD syndrome after SWAT raids last year, when they were left alone after their moms and dads were hauled away. Many of the charges have since been dismissed, although the seized property has not been returned, and the victims were told they need to go through civil court to get them back. Anyone here from Georgia or North Carolina who has been following local coverage? According to records, undercover officers killed at least four bears and tried to sell the gall bladders as part of this "investigation." What do you think?
