Q:As i have said before I'm going to try to spring turkey hunt this year. I have a homemade box call I just finished, and am thinking about getting a hen and a jake decoy. Do i need anything else? A different call, different decoys etc..

Q:OK, so I read Phil's article on shooting steel shot where Gil Ash showed there was not much difference made by the constriction of the choke with large size steel. I have always been a tight choke, big shot kinda guy and have been cussing steel since it was mandated down here in 1990. This year, I tried something different. I stuck an IC tube in my 11/87 and am shooting Rio 1 1/8th ounce steel 3's @1500 fps. The results are that I'm killing as many ducks dead with this as I did with lead #4's and am shooting very well as a rule. Most shots are 45 yards and under, primarly at Mallards and Gadwalls, with the occasional odd duck mixed in. It appears that the jury is in and the verdict is that O.Honker is right, speed kills and First Bubba was right, pattern density kills. Just curious though, what have all you other waterfowl slayers winning combinations consist of?

Q:Had a great birthday last thursday sharing the morning with my youngest son and one of his friends for a bit of wildfowling. In honor of the occasion, or maybe that I'm closer to 60 than 50 now, they gererously offered to let me have first shot at all the singles. 9 shots and 6 ducks later, my birthday present was fully unwrapped. Zeke the Wonder Puppy performed flawlessly and learned that ducks can and will dive to escape. This was his first experience with this and he handled it like an old pro, I didn't know what to be more pleased with, the boy's generosity, my shooting, or Zeke's coming of age as a bonafide retrieving dog. Days such as this make one remember why life is so good and not a moment should be wasted, watcha think?

Q:Does 3in steel kills geese better than a 3 1/2in? I'm just getting into waterfowling and was wondering if 3in does the job with plenty of leftover power. I dont want to spend an extra $200-$300 (benelli vinci or super vinci) on a 3 1/2in gun if 3in will do the job.
