Q:Archery question. Yesterday I stopped in at the local Archery shop looking for some end of season deals. I found a unique broad head called ATOM. It is 3 Titanium wire loops after a chisel point. We all know that Wire/cable under stress can be a hellacious cutting instrument. Never needs sharpened, And the wire loops are replaceable I Took a look a the website before I bought and see they have downed a lot of big game with said instrument. I bought 1 set, as I am a sucker for gadgets. Anyone use these before? In theory it seems it will work? But only at short ranges.
Q: 2 questions. The first is a cross bow question. During a conversation in a bar, we had a discussion on the power of cross bows. One of the guys, an experienced cross bow hunter claims that anything above 315 fps is not only wasted it is dangerous. When you get bolt/arrow speeds at 350 to 400 fps aerodynamics becomes much more critical. The broad head or mechanical becomes very sensitive to any prior dings or non-symentrics and can easily be thrown off course. Even a rain drop is dangerous to a 400 fps cross bow. Since none of us has a bow greater than 320fps, none of us knows one way or the other. And my second question. Isn't funny what guys will discuss over a beer between hunting season and the playoffs/super bowl.
Q:I am in the market for a new cross bow (cross bows are legal here). I gave my old one (Real nice Parker) to my brother in law. Don’t Ask. So I am thinking now that the season is over, stores are liquidating this years stocks and i might get a great price. But I need some opinions. Anyone have a carbon express? How about a Parker? Barnett?
