When T-Shirts Kill Alan Newsom, a 13-year-old student at Jack Jouett Middle School in Charlottesville, Virginia, was threatened with expulsion for wearing a T-shirt that read NRA SHOOTING SPORTS CAMP. The clothing violated the school's dress code, which prohibits "messages related to weapons." Newsom's family sued the Albemarle County School Board. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided in Newsom's favor, pointing out that under the school's policy, students could not display the Great Seal of Virginia, which features a spear and a sword. But perhaps the administrators are on to something: Guns don't kill people; T-shirts kill people. --DAVID E. PETZAL

i agree with the courts schools should not harass a child for promoting the nra or safe and responsable use of fire arms
my wife is a high school teacher,my daughter a student in the same school. the dress code allowes for NO writing on clothes except school logos.unfortunatly this is the best solution because i may suppport a shirt but am offended by the next twenty.
Once again this is society at an all time low. When are people going to stand up and say enough is enough. The court system is a sham. We are straying too far away from our AMERICAN values.
It is unvelievable how liberal the media and people are becoming in this country. It was not that long ago, that kids would take their guns and leave them in their trucks and then when they get out of school go hunting. Due to some nut jobs in the past few years, it is good that people no longer do this, but really what is the deal about an NRA shirt. I can think of a lot more offensive shirts than that. As long as there is no profanity of nudity, what does it matter.
maybe we as sportsman need to stand up and say enough is enough!!!!!!!!!!!
this doesn't supprise me at all, its not a weapon unless its used as a weapon, i don't know how hard it is to understand. response to swamp hunter- hell right we do, its this since of "CHANGE" that drives everyone to belive that is its fun and legal than it should be outlawed.
Sam, you are correct. I usually carry a knife, and multiple people have called it a weapon. I then explain to them the difference between a weapon and tool. A screw-driver, usually though of as a tool, could easily kill someone, therefore turning it into a weapon. What's next? Will DC outlaw screw-drivers in public places since someone could be hurt by it? There are tons of every-day items that, in a time of need, could become a weapon.
Another good weapin can be a Sharp pencil or Bic Pen and no one even considers it a weapon but people have been killed with them.
wow those people at that high school are nutjobs were did they go to school the u.s.s.r? what is our sicoty coming to?
