Alabama Alligators: Opening night yields 13 gators, including a 400-plus pounder
By Dave Hurteau & Chad Love
Alabama’s first regulated gator season opened Friday night when 50 hunters chosen randomly from 991 applicants weighed in 13 animals, including a 461-pounder taken by David Lenoir of Montgomery. The opener’s action was fast and furious, according to 22-year-old Jenna Parks, who shot the season’s first gator. “Alligators are everywhere out there,” Parks told the Press Register. “We passed up 11 before we saw this one out in the open where we could get to it. . . . It was some kind of rush.”
