Discussion Topic: Should Cats Wear Bibs?

By Dave Hurteau & Chad Love

According to a new study from Murdoch University in Western Australia, domestic cats wearing brightly-colored bibs kill fewer birds and other wildlife. It’s not clear if the bibs scare wildlife away or prevent the kitties from properly pouncing. But the real question is: Would you put a bib on your cat?

I live on a chunk of land and my neighbors cats grew from about 20 in number last year to about 50 this year. I'm not kidding- it's so bad even the hawks can't thin out their population. I think someone should put some bright colored bibs on these cats and bring their .22 over. My dog hates them too, every morning he comes to his dog house and smells the cats that slept in it over night.

Has F&S totally lost their mind? Have you all gone nuts there?! If, and that's IF I owned a cat the LAST thing I would put on it is a brightly colored bib! Why on God's green earth would I want to give the Bubba's of the world a clear and defined target to zero in on. A person whould have to be a complete and utter moron to dress their cat in such bibs. This is the most asinine idea I've ever heard, it rates right up there with the the question posed by F&S! Thank God I own a Lab.

Free ranging cats are an ecological disaster and should be removed from the ecosystem...with a .22 preferably.
