1: That would be John F. Kennedy’s Welsh Terrier, Charlie. JFK presided over one of the largest dog packs in the White House, including a fluffy mutt that a Soviet premier gave to the president to help ease the strife following the Cuban missile crisis.
2: Theodore Roosevelt. He named the mutt Skip and claimed it would stand its ground against any bear. TR would often take Skip on his hunts, carrying him on his saddle.
3: George Washington. The first prez was a hound man all the way and often bred his Virginia hounds with big stag hounds from France in an effort to create the perfect pooch.
4: Lyndon Johnson. But he was berated by those who thought he was inhumane to animals. When Him and Her died Johnson replaced them with a mutt he found wandering around a Texas gas station.
5: Warren Harding. His dog, named Laddie Boy, would also bring the President the paper each morning.
6: Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The Scottie, named Fala, is buried next to the President.
