Ryan Hilditch, Huffman, Texas
Texas Black Drum
Weight: Estimated to be 70 lb. or more
The Lowdown: Ryan Hilditch was fishing with his buddies Eric Spurgeon and Corey Elliot in the Trinity Bay near Baytown, Texas on July 26 when Hilditch felt a strong pull on his 15-pound test line. After a 20-minute fight, Hilditch reeled in this monster black drum from about eight feet of water. The net nearly broke pulling the fish into the boat. After a few photographs were snapped, the drum was released without being weighed. Hilditch estimates it was around 70 pounds.
Bait Used: Fresh shrimp
Current State Record: 78 pounds

monster rainbow, wish they would ahve let it fight another day but hey i didnt catch it
I gotta love it when I see a guy in a jon boat catching huge fish, like the case of the black drum. Goes to show you don't need a huge expensive rig to be in the game.
I liked the yelloweye rockfish the best, but all the pictures were great!
The pictures were great! That fish with those bad*** teeth just freaked me out though. :)
damn good thing that you 15 pound line din't broke
that's a big fish
Sweet Black drum and nice job with the 15 lbs line thats tough to not get excited and pressure the fish too much.
Way to go Texas sportsman! CPR Catch, Photograph and Release. I would recommend a life jacket on when on the water. Now that we have the new jackets that are so light weight and inflateable it would seem a good practice. Louisiana Sportsman!
those are some great fish maybe ill be on there someday haha
I love the photos of the Big Fish!
