Angler Lands Vermont State-Record Walleye While Ice Fishing on Lake Champlain
The fish ate a 3-1/2-inch golden shiner hooked just under the dorsal fin with a size-2 Gamakatsu Walleye Wide Gap hook and 8-pound-test Eagle Claw mono. Goldens are one of many natural shiner species that reside in Champlain.

In photo #6 it looks like T-Rex with tiny little arms. What a thrill it must have been to get that fish, especially on a tip up. Good job fella! What type of jig did you have tied on?

Hell of a walleye. Validation on a few points..That records are still out there to be caught, and that ice fishing can produce these trophies! Keep the photos coming!

With THIRTY LINES [15 each] through the ice it sounds more like commercial fishing.Nice fish though ,just would have liked to have read that he caught it on a jig.
