I finally got out this weekend to try my new custom built Sage One from Coldwater Customs this weekend. It performed as well as all the reviews say - I love it.

I have got to get my hands on one of those Fenwick Elitetech Smallmouth rods. My buddy let me use his last time we went fishing, that rod is amazing. Fenwick did a great job constructing it. I'm glad to see it made this list.

The VMC Spinshot Hooks look great. Unfortunately, they do not sell directly to consumers and don't list their retailers. Not a great marketing strategy in my view.

The MFC Waterproof fly box looks great. But since most flies ultimately end up in the water, why does it matter that it's waterproof?

aadinoff - Waterproof fly boxes usually float when you drop them in the drink.

Also, they're nice for dry flies when you're wading deep.

fezzant - aadinoff makes a valid point. It's like a heat-proof case for a turkey thermometer. Plus, the whole point of the fly is to attract fish, and to the best of my knowledge, fish have no concept of dry. Also, for floating what's needed is airtight, not waterproof. And lastly, when I'm wading deep, I like everything wet and soggy - as is obvious from my username. My father used to call me that name as a child, and although a number of therapists have tried to help me, I still can't escape that identity.

It's true, fish don't know what dry is, or if they do, they're dead and it doesn't matter, but a dry fly that's soaked won't float, and no longer imitates a bug floating on the surface.

Sorry to hear 'bout your underwear.

I have to wonder why they picked the 8.5 foot rod over the 9 footer?
