As Lauber continued to catch smallies, and now his first largemouth, I’d yet to boat one fish. Needless to say, the “friendly” competition between he and I started to get more spirited.

There isn't anything better then a day fishing with a good friend for smallmouth bass.

The Meramec is one of my favorite rivers for both smallies and trout. Glad you had a good time... It's normally a great fly fishing river, but it looked like the water was just too off-color then.
