Oklahoma - Broken Bow Lake Though the prime time for bass fishing on Broken Bow is March through May, June might offer your best shot at a truly big largemouth. Fish at night between the quarter and full moon phases, when the big postspawn females cruise for food. Broken Bow is deep and clear, and the topwater fishing can be excellent. It's also a very good producer of walleyes. Broken Bow Lake Guide Service, 580-494-6447;

I know I've been working overseas for a few years now, but I have really been gone so long that I don't remember U.S. geography correctly. I nearly choked when I saw KANSAS included in your Rocky Mountain West "Best Fishing Spots!" At what point did they move the entire state far enough to include ANY PART of the Rockies???
AND North Dakota? Who categorizes this stuff?!?! There are NO MOUNTAINS in North Dakota... TRUST ME, I've been there and it's the most scenically bereft place I think I've ever been. Even if you're going there to fish, it's ranks near the bottom for visual impact!
