Trip Report: Big Brown Trout On The White River
You can learn a lot about fish by watching other fishermen. They gravitate toward comfort – fires on cold days and shade on hot days – and congregate around food sources. Fish are the same way. And if you watch fishermen closely, you’ll likely notice that the big boys don’t waste a lot of plate space on salad greens. Remember that when you’re picking lures.

looks like fun i have to try to go there some time and i will use jerkbates and spinners when i go.
Definitely a place I want to fish, but I'd much rather do it with a fly rod. Just my personal thought - some very nice fish indeed.
we use hardbaits for trout all of the time up in maine, and we aren't even fishing for big trout, i don't understand why people don't use them all the time even though they work good trolling

Thanks Guys(F&S), we've had a hell of a time "QUIETLY" fishing proabaly fishing one of the best/unknown/world-record trout fisheries in the world and now you guys had to go and spoil it,(ha ha ha). Just remember to enjoy the seenery,food, and hospitality, while your down here too !!!
Trout are predators and they will not pass up a big minnow when hungry. It would be a thrill to catch that big beauty on a fly rod though!
The photo's are great,that is what its all about,great menories your son will never forget.
Don't get the idea big fish are easy with crank baits. Bad part is most are foul hooked. Yes, they have one hook in the mouth but the other hooks normally are implaed into the fishes side many times leading to death of the fish. Most of the fish in the White River are stocker rainbows!! The river will kill you!!! Its swift and dangerous when the dam is producing electricty. Every year people die on the river. Water can rise from ankle deep to eight feet within minutes.
