I took this photo of the target and of the flag because, I was born on flag day. This was taken in my yard. I felt that (I love guns target)and that the flag represents the right to bare arms and most of all Freedom.

To enter Field & Stream's 2010 Gun Nut Target Contest, readers had to send us creative photographs of a special Gun Nut Target insert we published in our July 2010 issue. We promised to give away a brand-new Smith & Wesson M&P15 MOE 5.536mm rifle to the photo we liked best (as judged by a panel of our editors).
The contest was a massive success, generating an incredible 700-plus submissions from readers and website visitors. We've seen a lot of gun photographs at Field & Stream over the years, but these top 50 images--with themes of patriotism, the military life, humor, even love--left us awestruck. Check them out, vote for your favorites here (the five photos that get the most votes win a Gun Nuts hat), and stay tuned for our next contest.
And the winner? Congratulations to Onehit, who wins the rifle for his entry titled "I love guns and the red, white, and blue." (the first photo in this gallery).

There are at least ten Awesome photos in this gallery, why did this photo get picked? It shouldn't have even been a contender. I am disappointed in the lack of creativity. This is the most bizarre winner of any photo contest I've seen. This is a high level magazine and website, I thought they would pick a photo to reflect the same quality. I think they should look at the photo gallery again.

What does the flag and gun nut have to do whith what the contest was asking people to do? where is the ( NUT ) part of this winning pick? I can see now that your under Obama leadership, Do as you want not as the american people suggest. seems like congress is running this magazine an there blowing smoke up everyones bore hole here.

Some of these do not really depict a gun nut, but they are all great pictures none-the-less.
No idea why F&S picked the winner pic over some of the others... ideally, #11 should have taken the prize! :)

I can understand why everyone is arguing. He doesn't even have a gun in the photo. But we cant change the verdict of the winning picture, so be happy for the guy and think, If you won, would you be saying the same the same thing?
I understand flag and patriotism, but it has nothing to do with the contest, this kind of feels that something is not right. There are at least 8-10 pictures that i liked better than mine, but i never thought this would be the winner

Jenny, chill out! Brendon and Dan you are exactly right. I think #11 and the one teaching the little toddlers are the best pics over all. However ALL are great. I wish I could have been as creative as some of these. By the way, whats creative or high quality about a table full of guns and a guy with a bad cow lick wearing a gun nut shirt??
why does "one hit" not have anything in the profile section? no pics or votes or anything? soungs like "countitandone" might be on to something.
good contest, and nice photos for the most part. personally, i thought photo 14 or photo # 41 should be the winner. but everybody has their own opinion. what i want to know is where to get the t-shirt in photo # 7.

I was surprised by the large number of creative photos right on the subject matter. A lot of time and effort went into some of these. How about at least an F&S logo hat or tee for each of the top 50?
