SHOT Show 2012 Sneak Peek: 12 New Guns From Range Day
Mossberg FLEX Shotguns
“Flex your Mossberg.” Get ready to read and hear that sentence a lot this year. It will be everywhere.
Last night, the company rolled out its FLEX line as a new concept in modular shotguns and accessories, using something called TLS (Tool-less Locking System). Simply, it means you can customize your shotgun from 11 different base 500 and 590 models with a modular system that allows you to change out stocks, forends, recoil pads and accessories, all without using a single tool.
The base models are designed for all-purpose, hunting and tactical configurations, but with the various quick-attach components, you can change a totally black model 500 from a home-defense-geared, short, stockless, pistol grip pump to a full-length, stocked camo turkey gun in about a minute. I know, I watched them do it. No screwdrivers, no allen wrenches. Just your fingers and whatever extra components you choose to buy.
No matter what, the Mossberg Flex line will allow for more shotgun applications in one gun for far less cost and effort than ever before. MSRP: Various --Dave Maccar

AR - I believe that the Savage website lists the hoghunter in .338 win, not lapua.
Some cool stuff! I think the "flex" Mossberg will be very popular. Hats off to Ruger for getting into the bargain rifle biz and staying Made in the USA. I'd like to shoot the Springfield .45 compact.
The Whisper is cool, but it would seem that the niche it's filling would be very very small.
And a tactical lever action? Geeze that's just plain silly in my book. But, I think a lot of the "tactical" stuff is silly, not all mind you, but a lot of it.
I'd be interested to know how much the Savage .308 weighs and costs.
Paint a gun black, add a folding stock, some rails, call it "tactical."
It seams to me we are going back to a one Gun Hunter
just like the 1950s, one gun will do it all!
or do they call it a Transformer??
My Grand Dad had Two Guns,One Win 94-30/30 and a
Browning Auto-5 W/Two Barrels one Slug,one Bird 26"
He never used the 94 at all,He used the Br.all the time for up-land game 26"Bbl,for Deer the Slug Bbl.
in the Am W/Slug and Bird Shot mid-day, switch to Slug Pm Hunt.
Unfortunately, it's still a Mossberg.
I think the Mossberg flex shotgun is a great idea and going to be a bit hit with the economy being the way it is.
The 300 wisper has been around a while the AR fanatics have been building them for a year or 2 now, good to see the manufacturers taking note.
That "tactical" lever action is a good idea but it is in dire need of rfinement. Good concept, ugly gun. IN my opinion the stock needs to be more traditional looking but remain adjustable.
The bolt guns coming out are looking good aswell, I like the TC with the changeable barrels that is a great idea aswell. Good stuff coming out in handguns with the new XDMS, shotguns are looking good. I think that treestand is is right we are all trying to save money right now and that means less boom sticks going into the safe.
What a great line up. Is this a great country or what?

Some things are just not meant to be, and that Mossberg 464 SPX is one of them. J.M. Browning just rolled over in his grave.
interesting new guns. don't think i like a tactical lever gun that has always been a classic and a favorite of mine. i do like the new savages and the .300 whisper though . I would like to shoot them.
That TC is kind of ugly. If it retains the same set of optics between barrel changes, I suppose you could carve the zero settings for each cartridge into the stock.

I'm glad to see there is at least one other blogger that thinks Mossyturd shotguns are a POS. +1
I think the tactical lever gun makes sense. Cowboys and farmers used the lever gun to protect herd and home for years. Now, you can too...with a light and laser if you so decide. AND, in those states that still frown on hunting with semi-automatic weapons, you've got a true hunting/home defense platform that requires no modification, other than snapping an accessory on/off a rail. Good on Mossberg. I will saw this much though; it's kinda ugly.
I just wish the Savage 10 was also made in left-handed configuration. With 15% of the population left-handed, or in my case left eye dominant, you'd think more guns would be made for us.
I guess I'll have to order my Savage 116FLHSS in left-handed set-up; for almost twice the price.
First, Hutter ruger is a great AMERICAN MADE rifle. I have 3 myself and the 10/22 shoots more reliably than my Remington 522 Viper. I think that the new Mossburg flex looks amazing i love that it can switch from the gun sitting in the corner of my living room protecting my family to the gun i'm gonna take out and hunt rabbits with in the woods, in in just minutes. The Savage 10 Also looks amazing. It sounds like it is a accurate gun even at extremely long ranges.
The lever action looks a little weird but I think it could be useful. I still prefer a older 30-30 though.
I don't see the sense in a tactical shot gun,I've shot numerous triples on a covey rise with my upland gun.Come into my world home invader!
Darn you Ruger. You had to introduce a great rifle right after I bought one. Oh well, it gives me an excuse to buy it as well
does anyone know in what states silencers are legal?
i live in southern illinois can i buy ammo like at ammo.com and have it deliverd straight to my house
