Photographer Anthony Gibson was lucky enough to capture an attempt by this lynx to grab an American wigeon in Alaska's Denali National Park. Unfortunately, it was an unsuccessful stalk. "That lynx picked the wrong duck," said Gibson. "One wigeon nearby had its head underwater and was completely clueless the whole time." Still hungry and soaking wet, the lynx "did a monkey walk back to the weeds, shaking his paws dry and looking rankled."

I Didnt Think this one would get Away
I love how the other duck just sits there and doesn't even notice. He should have took the easy meal.
So cool to be able to zoom in on the photo. No. 1 looks gorgeous a bit closer up!
These are some of the best action photos I've seen in quite a while. I don't recall ever seeing photos of a lynx in the middle of a kill. Very nice indeed!
These photos are phenomenal! I hope to see a lot more of Anthony Gibson! He has an eye. His web site at www.anthonygibson.com is a treat.
Very good pictures by what looks like a very good photographer.
I can feel for this lynx as he looks like he's as good of a duck hunter as I am. The poor thing goes to all that trouble and all he has to show for it is getting wet. Maybe if he should read Field and Stream or get bigger guns.
If your a duck hunter we have all been there.
I thought he would get him
tht is pretty amazing

Wonderful photos!
Great photograpghy skills!
Check spelling it's Wigeon not Widgeon. Nice pics.
Thank you everyone for your compliments! It was an amazing scene to witness.

Nice pictures! Are they unique pics? - NO. I live in the same area as Jim Brandenburg, he has the same scene as these on his blog....so unique they are not. Even sells some of the same Limited Edition prints of the same scenes as this photographer. Unique or Limited Edition would mean one of a kind - there must be two of a kind in these!
These are great pics! I sympathize with the lynx. It's embarassing how many times I've walked out of the marsh looking and feeling the same way. Now I know I'm not alone.
What an amazing and unique opportunity! Not to mention great insticts to take such fine pictures in the heat of the moment. I'm sure the adrenaline rush of witnessing such a scene must come close to if not equal a hunt.
Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments! In response to waterfowler5573, I am aware that Jim Brandenburg has similar pictures because I was standing right next to him when we shot this scene. I was attending Jim's workshop in Denali National Park, so it would stand to reason that we would both have similar shots from that trip. Jim is a friend and mentor of mine, and he is fully aware of all my work as I am with his.
Best Wishes,

Wonderful photos of wildlife in their element! I checked out Mr. Gibson's website and found several more beautiful photos taken in Alaska as well as an interesting picture of a white squirrel. I had heard that they have true albino squirrels in Mr. Gibson's home town of Olney, IL. Now I can see one! Keep up the good work!
Lynx are an amazing animal and thanks to some divisions the animals are making a strong come back.
Growing up with him, he's always been a very smart and talented guy. Proud of you Tony, and great job. Can't wait to see your new endeavours and accomplishments in the future!!
Great pics!! That was a once in a lifetime thing!
Great action photos!!
Those are awsome pictures!
These are some excellent pictures!!!!!Good job on shooting this photos........
