Familiar to readers of fieldandstream.com is regular poster Robert Millage, better known as “idahooutdoors.” Now, it seems, Millage is getting known by everyone in the country with an interest in wolves. Tuesday, the 1st of September was the opening of Idaho’s controversial wolf-hunting season. Millage, a fifth generation, 34-year-old Idahoan from Kamiah, guide with Selway Ridgerunner Outfitters and dedicated outdoorsman, has seen the explosion of wolves in his state, and the (coincidental or not) steep decline in elk numbers. All of which made him look forward to the chance to take one of Idaho’s big game quota of 220 wolves. As luck would have it, Millage got his shot. If this wasn’t the first big-game hunter-taken wolf in Idaho, or in the entire Northern Rockies in the US, it was damn close.
These are the photos of Millage's wolf. Click here to read the story of the hunt, as well as the story of how the kill has earned him both celebrity and villain status. - Thomas McIntyre

Bob-- That is a gorgous wolf, congradulations again!! The pictures are great and so is the reality of how many wolf pups your girl there won't be having!! Good job!! and hopfully many more to come from the hunters in Idaho!!!
only the Alpha female mates. So you can't say for sure if she would be having a litter or not.
Y is this in small game when it was a big game hunt?
nice wolf hopefully i will have some pictures later this year my wolf hunt is in november. thanks for helping control the population
Nice job Idahooutdoors. Now please do it again and again until wolf numbers are in check and the Elk come back.
That is a beautiful animal, congratulations on your deserved success.
Well done. Nice colored wolf!
Mr. Millage, thank you. I have grown up in Weippe, I no longer live there but visit quite often and being from your neck of the woods and having lived there for 29 years I can tell you that what you have done is a good thing. There are few people that know more about the "woods" in the Lolo or Clearwater areas than me and this will help. As for Jeepdude1987, stick with jeeps as you know nothing about wolves.
You should be proud! Not too many hunters get an opportunity like this!
A wonderful looking wolf. Congratulations on your success.
MURDERER!!! What have the wolves done to you? did you know wolves to not attack humans unless they feel threat, and in this case your a coward, he turned his back on you and walked away, giving you that land, and you shot him in the back! COWARD!!!
They may of not done anything to him! but they killed one of my dogs on my front porch. They killed all of the elk in front of my house. They kill cattle in front of my house. When are the lies going to stop from these people that dont even live around wolves? im sick and tired of it! Do you think people are that brind wolf Lover?
nice female wolf guessing it weighed between 125 and 130. wolflover doesn't know crap about wolves. Smaller lower 48 wolves are primarily pack animals. wolves in canada and alaska are very large and tend to be much more solitary, killing even very large animals on there own but sometimes going into packs of two or three when food is scarce.keep up the wolf hunting! they are a totally underated game species.
Beautiful wolf, I love hunting, but I don't think I'd want to kill a wolf, yotes' on the other hand...haha, good job man, keep posting your awesome pics, and I hope you get many more like her.
