Howeve, we should be holding TX to a higher standard as it is a known fact inside the deer farming industry that TX releases genetically superior farmed deer to the wild to help their state bring in hunters.

Well highfencehuntin' I simply ask that question because if the game is trapped behind high fence, that's not a fair chase. It's not like they paid the people of Texas to cage and have as their own. If that is the case, then they should in fact purchase their own game and then HIGH FENCE THEM.

In Texas this high fence plunderers are trapping game animals and nongame animals at an alarming rate, not even turtles can escape this traps. We are being denied the resources that the State of Texas says belong to the people of Texas. We the people donot recall giving away our resources to this greed. If a game animal cannot escape a fence because of it's height or mesh size,it is trapped and it is unlawful to shoot a trapped game animal, according to The State of Texas.

I have driven by a ranch that is high fenced and so happen to see a deer whom is terrified and trys to jump the fence, but there is no escape. That poor animal hits the fence time and time again till he bleeds. His antlers get stuck for several seconds till he manages to get away. That is really devasting, why should this amimals suffer because of the ignorance of High Fence GREED. That is only one animal that I saw, can you imagine the ones I don't see?

+2 Good Comment? | | Report
from Fenced out in Texas wrote 2 years 26 weeks ago

We should write to our Congressman and post our concerns about High Fencing in the State Of Texas. High Fencing should be illegal, a fence should be no higher than 48 inches so as to let the wild life roam free.

High fence shooting of domestic game animals is poaching at the highest level.Only the disable and little girls should be allowed to shoot this semi tame animals, oh and gut shooters, for obvious reasons. The wounded (gut shot)animal has no escape if it is not at one of the fence it is on the other,no escape.

Editor's Note: We'd like to thank Martin Oviedo, a game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in Dallas County who partnered with Minter on the opening day of the Texas firearms deer season, for taking the photos of Minter in the field (slides 8-14 and 16-18).
