WOW! Congrats Kim, that is one heck of a deer. Too bad the yote's got to him first, but still a great trophy.

Awesome buck! I don't know how I feel about "the biggest whitetail taken by a woman with a bow in Wisconsin." Wonder why they keep different records for women? It's not like men really have that much of an advantage in hunting. Seems to me that only one all-inclusive record book is needed. Either way, congrats to Kim, that's a heckuva deer.

That is one healthy and impressive set of antlers there, madam. CONGRATS!
Just wishing my wife would take up the sport.

Hil,

Maybe it's too keep our sensitive male egos from being damaged - that's a pretty nice buck in anyone's book, and Ms. Acker took it with a bow! Most guys never get one that nice even with their $2,000 dollar rifles and $4,000 scopes, in Wisconsin or anywhere else. Except in our dreams of course. Congratulations.

Heck of a deer! I actually heard of a 220 inch typical buck taken by Milwaukee also pretty recently...but you know how hunting stories go it's hard to tell if its true or not. Saw a picture of the thing and its pretty ginormous though..

Interesting how his tail was broken? In all the live pictures it was in the same position. Also, nothing is truly wasted in the woods. Even if we don't get the meat many other animals etc. are glad to find it, just like the coyotes. That's the way it works. We sometimes think it's wasted if we don't get to eat it, but that is not always true. Of course we should always try to make good use of it if we kill it though, I think most everyone tries to make that happen.
Great buck!!!

Nice marsh buck Kim! Looks like a 5 or 6 year old beauty....the beauty of bow hunting season...they are in the rut and looking for their female friends...no pressure and just you! Cool! Congrats again Kim. Ben Hobbins

Outstanding! I'm showing this to my daughters (6&11). They LOVE venison, and are great archers, but the older one at least has no desire to get in the field. Hopefully your success will get my oldest interested in the mentor program. Congratulations, on the buck, and your newly found celebrity status.

Wonderful, wonderful Kim! And keeping your cool for the shot is impressive too. Sorry to hear that the coyotes worked the hindquarters over during the night. I've learned too the hard way to never leave early in the search for the game after the shot, whether it's with gun or bow. Keep searching till you find it right away! Again, best congrads to you and the family. Very well done..!!!

nueman23-i highly doubt you heard about a typical buck exceeding 213 and 5/8 inchs b&c if you did it would be the new world record.

This buck is amazing did he have a double main beam last year? That thing is crazy. Congrats kim.

Great job Kim. I do not like the disparity between men and women. That's a nice buck for anyone. Some commenter's makes it sound like this is hard for women to shoot a big trophy. That's a load of crap. I can shoot a 40 lb fawn or a three hundred pound Ohio Buck. You can too and thus that's the problem I have with some men's attitudes.
I am so excited for you. By now for you this is old news, today being 31 Oct 2010 the time of this comment. I'm proud of you not because you are a woman, but that you did what it takes any hunter to take a big one. Camera pics, watching. determining where that days stand location is. You did it. That's where the pride for you. There should be no men's or woman's side of record books. Just hunters.

Additional Info

Kim Acker is a 36-year-old mother of two living in Waterford, WI with her husband Kurt. In addition to being a homemaker, she is also a hunter and has been for 15 years. Soon, once the score is confirmed, she will most likely have the biggest whitetail buck taken by a woman with a bow in the big-deer state of Wisconsin with a handsome 200-class buck she arrowed in September. She only claimed her trophy after a full year of searching for a shot and being tantalized by trail cam photos of the big brute. Here’s the full story of the hunt and everything that led up to it from Eugene Mancl.
