Peak, of Fisherville, Kentucky, was hunting a Shelby County farm where he’s had good success in recent years. In fact, he has shot three other wall-hangers from the same stand he was manning when this big buck ambled into range on December 12.
Eleven days after an Illinois hunter tagged the pending Boone & Crockett world record 8-pointer, 32-year-old Kevin Peak shot another great 8 that should take the title as the biggest Kentucky 4-by-4 ever officially measured and recorded in the Boone & Crockett record books.

I have a rack from an 8 that my dad found dead on our farm in KY. I scored it with a gross of 183 and change... Seeing that the state record is so close I think I might need to get it officially measured. Does anyone know if found deer still count in the books?
From the Boone and Crockett rules:
"The Club also accepts trophies that are picked up (e.g. winter kills, road kills, etc.) and trophies of unknown origin (e.g. garage sales, taxidermists, attics, etc.)."
Hope that helps...
Congratulations Kevin on a Kentucky Bruiser!
abiddleo13- What county in Kentucky did you find your Big One? Was it this year that your Dad found it?
The current All Time state record (Typical) is a main frame 10-pointer, measuring 204 3/8ths.I've got a replica of it as my buddy shot it during gun season in 2000.
The main beams on that dude ar outrageous..!!
Robertson Co. And it was a couple of years ago, I'm not real sure. I think 08 maybe. Its a main frame 8 with two little kickers off each brow time about 1 in. each that I deducted when I scored it.
abiddleo13- Thanks for responding!
Keep us posted when you get that Bad Boy scored! There have been some Bruisers coming out of Robinson County the several years.
Would you upload a picture of it on F&S and share it with us?
The reason I asked, is a friend of mine shot a huge buck a couple of seasons ago on the farm next to the one I hunted on.I had seen the buck 3-days before and couldn't get a shot as I looked in amazement at his rack. That was in Owenton, County.
Go U.K.!
Will do 2Poppa... I've been meaning to get some pics on here for a while now.
Also, do you know if an official measurer can certify for B&C and P&Y?... I've got another buck I shot with a bow that should get me in the P&Y book and I was wanting to get both scored at the same time if possible.
I like pic # 6,, the mount with the greens in its mouth, that is just cool___MP
abiddleo13- My buddy had John Phillips, a former Wildlife Biologist with the Kentucky Department of Wildlife, who was the deer program coordinator in 1978.
I believe if you have "an official measurer" that will satisfy both B&C and P&Y.
Pictures We Want Pictures! :)
abiddle.....Please email me about your deer. I can help you out with getting it scored also. Thanks. jeremy.ruckel@lewis.kyschools.us
