Trail Cam Photos: The 50 Best Wildlife Shots from Our 2012 Fall Contest (Round II)

Hitching a ride

I still have no idea how this happened.

Fox fight

Not sure the odds of getting a fox on a trail cam, much less two at the same time about to duke it out!

Prairie King

American badger in central Kansas' Smoky Hills, yawning as he/she exits the den. This badger was responsible for predating a nesting radio-collared greater prairie-chicken hen.

Fawn jump!

This fawn must have got hissed at or even poked by the big porky in it's path! And it would have been pretty dark down there. Quite the vertical! Hopefully it was a safe landing.

Sparring partners

Two nice West Virginia bucks fighting for the camera.

Are you my Daddy?

I caught this special moment on my Bushnell trail camera in Aug. 2012. I didn't think that bucks interacted with fawns, but I guess I was wrong!

Bobcat in Flight

This bobcat was caught in flight!

Bangin' heads

Two young scrappers going at it with the look of determination in their eyes. Gotta love the rut! even the young ones get fired up!

Wolf Walk

A pair of wolves caught on camera using on old logging road near Condon, MT. A herd of elk was caught on camera 45 min ahead of them.

Mountian Lion Fight

These two mountian lions were caught on camera while playing on a log near Condon, MT. This picture was one of many caught on camera of the two playing.

King vs. Prince

These two bucks fought for over ten minutes in front of my camera. By the looks of their racks', they must have some of the same genetics.

You're staring at my rack, aren't you?

I do have eyes... This big fella is still around. He disappeared from the cameras for over 20 days, but he showed himself Saturday night.

duck flock on deer cam in sunrise

This trail cam was set up to catch a nice 5x5 and 4x4 whitetail pair feeding in the alfalfa field. this flock of ducks looks like they were spooked one morning right in front of the camera.

"KITTY BOB CAT LOVE"

THESE TWO YOUNG BOB CATS CAME TO THE WATER HOLE AND LIKE ALL YOUNG CATS, STARTED PLAYING AND ATTACKING EACH OTHER. AFTER PLAYING AROUND FOR ALMOST 20 MINUTES, ON THE LAST SHOT BEFORE LEAVING THE WATER HOLE, THEY GAVE EACH OTHER A LITTLE HUG AND MADE UP.

Kansas Monster

This picture tells it all on why guys want to hunt Kansas. I put up this trail camera just to see what was in area that I had never hunted. POW this guy was on there during the day and night of July 30, 2012. I have spent a lot of time and dollars this year trying to figure out how to put an arrow in him for a buck of a lifetime.

Bear Band?

This guy is making short work of my 6 foot four-inch thing PVC gravity feeder...It looks like he is auditioning for a "Ricola" commercial..

Manitoba Coyote Howling

This photo was taken using a Bushnell HD Trail Camera. During this season around Southwestern Manitoba, there is plenty of wildlife roaming around the fields and bushes. I was lucky to capture this on camera.

Wolf and Bear Encounter

While bear baiting for the 2012 Wisconsin bear hunt, my game cam captured this wolf trying to get some bait while the bear was eating from the pit. The bear's back hair is bristled up.

September Spar

An early season sparring match between two 2 1/2s

Bleeding Velvet

Had this buck come to the camera at 6 different occasions within 16 hours, with full velvet in first pic, to no velvet 16 hours later. Great to actually watch this process up close.

Big 8

I have numerous pics of this mature buck but have yet to see him in the field. I have been hunting this guy the last 2 yrs, maybe this year will be different!

The buck we call Tiny

Been watching this big Virgina buck since last summer, though couldn't find his hiding place during season. Disappeared September 15 last year, August 25 this year. Here's hoping this season pays off.

Large Black Bear in Napa County

This large black bear is a frequent visitor at this stream crossing. He lives in a protected area and we hope to see more of him!

Mirror Image

What I believe makes this photo unique is the way that it appears as though the front buck is looking into a mirror as it watches the buck in the bean field.

Someone is home

This lion is looking up at my place which is only about 70 yds from where this pic was taken. The time stamp on the photo is approximately the same time I get home. I am sure he was curious what was going on up there. Glad I didn't walk down to check the cam that evening!

tossin' and turnin'

New Jersey bears have a funny habit of finding your spot and then sleeping on it. On this particular night this bear arrived at 11pm and spent till 9am the next morning eating, sleeping, tossin’ and turnin'!

Bachelor Convention

It was quite a sight to see two major bachelor groups come together for a evening snack in the beans. If you look closely, you can see 7 different bucks.

Something a bit different

Only saw the backside of him for the last 2 weeks until this shot. 2 day later he came strolling by while I was dressing a doe - not a care in the world. Maybe not the brightest but fun to look at.

Coexist

I captured this whitetail and Axis (all free range) sharing a meal.

Aoudad Familiy Portrait

A family of free range Auodad pose for my Bushnell Rocksprings, Tx

Casper

Afternoon picture of a nice albino buck from our area who is the offspring of an even bigger buck!

Mountian Lion Troll

This mountain lion taking a break over a stream in Condon, MT.

Meal Time

Fox caought on camera with rabbit in mouth near Condon, MT.

Big for South Central Missouri

I seen this buck last rifle season. Been trying to get him with my bow this season haven't seen him while sitting in my bow stand yet but my hopes are high.

The Deer in the Back Field

This was a big surprise to find a picture like this on my trail cam.

don't mess with a woman

Been watching these 2 8 pointers all summer when i got this crazy picture of one of the 8's apparently getting to close mamma's fawn!

Perfect 12....can you say spread??!!

Last year he showed up as a 3 year old 11 point, and in the last year he has made a perfect 12 and grown huge mass and spread. Look closely and he is just shedding out of velvet. Awesome pic.

You have been a bad boy

Samsung A503 Homebrew trail cam.

Right out of an Alfred Hitchcock Movie?

Caught this flock of red winged black birds taking a break on their way South.

The Waterhole Buck

This is a buck roaming around the area that has many people talking. Hopefully he will still be around for rifle season!

8X7 bull elk looking over valley

I have taken pictures of over six different bulls on this camera. Only two would be considered immature bulls. This is one of my favorites

Wierd looking rack!

I knew when this buck started growing is was gonna be different. This is how it ended up.

" LOVE IS IN THE AIR"

THE DESERT BIGHORNS DON'T HIT THE WATER VERY OFTEN, EVAN WHEN IT'S 118 DEGREES. BUT WHEN THEY DO THERE ALWAYS BUTTING HEADS AND LOOKING FOR LOVE.

Nosy

Got pictures of this oddity going in and out of the soybean field one evening. When coming out of the field the trail camera caught his attention and we got several great pictures as he walked up to it.

NE Iowa Non-Typical

9x5 heavy beamed giant in September poses like a Rock Star for the camera!

Mom and babe(s)

Got this pic from my parent's property near Parry Sound, ON. If you look closesly you can see a second calf. The cow looks as if she is posing for the camera.

Black fox

Found this Black fox on my trial cam sniffing around a road kill. Very rare to see one like this in Colorado.

Eating Close Together

This spike buck, doe and fawn are eating, real close together.

"PAPA, MAMA, TEENS, BABIES"

I FOUND THIS WATER HOLE WAY UP IN THE AZ. CLIFFS WHERE THE DESERT BIGHORN SHEEP ROAM, BUT I GUESS THIS JAVELINA FAMILY KNOWS ABOUT IT TO.

Sheddin' Velvet

Placed my trailcam on one of my favorite wallows I discovered about six years ago. Caught this guy that morning shedding his velvet. He was on my camera again that night, almost all his velvet was shed except for some hanging off his sixth points.
