Pretty steep competition. Almost positive my standard snaggle-toothed smiling jack would not win. Good work folks!

Great pumpkin, you and my wife would get along well. My wife loves carving pumpkins with our little boy.

Go find a pumpkin, carve it up, take a picture, and enter the photo in our 2012 Pumpkin Carving Contest. The second place winner gets a Gator Machete (pictured at bottom).

The deadline for submissions is midnight on Nov. 15, 2012.

Check out the best pumpkins from our previous contests in this gallery for some ideas.

Good luck and good carving. —The Eds.

Prize Info:
Grand Prize
Gerber Ultimate Game Cleaning Kit
This handy kit includes an E-Z Zip gut hook with replacement blades, an Exchange-A-Blade saw with two blades and a Gator clip point folding knife, plus a sheath in Mossy Oak Break-Up to carry it all.

AND

a Gator Machete Pro
This multi-purpose blade is a take on the classic Woodman's Pal and can be used as an axe or machete. A sharpened hook at the end of the blade makes it a great tool for clearing brush, scraping bark, chopping branches and clearing shooting lanes. And if you're a Walking Dead fan, you know it does a number on the undead too.

Runner-Up Prize:
Gator Machete
With a 18-inch blade of high carbon steel and a serrated spine, this machete will cut a swath through anything that needs cutting, including herds of roaming zombies. Or you could use it as a field saw or to clear brush.
