Great job, plus I like the fact that you guys were smart enough too mention all the products you used and about using trail cams instead of traditional scouting. This should yield you some great things in the future and help you with possibly even a new career.
Keep up the good work, it's all about the bones!!

Another Wisconsin monster down! Great buck, and great job making sure your son is involved. Always looking for the future generations of outdoorsmen. One trophy like that and I'm sure he's hooked for life!

Nice Buck! Looks like he got a tad lucky on the kill, though. Looks like from the pics he shot it just in front of the hind quarters. A killing shot none-the-less.

Very nice buck indeed! However the shot placement is far from an ethical shot that should have been taken!

If his arrow hit a limb he's more than lucky to have gotten the buck at all. Super job on the buck and kudos for what you are doing with your hunting land.

You are looking at the exit wound in the photos. I shoot mechanical broadheads which do some odd things on their way thru a deer. By the way the exit wound was in the rib cage. The photos are misleading. The arrow didn't hit anything on its way to the deer it hit a shallow ironwood root after it exited. That is what caused the loud crack. The buck didn't go 100 yards, it was a pretty good hit.
Thanks for all the comments

Blaine,
Fantastic story and a fantastic deer! I'm glad you responded to the others about the hit placement etc, I hope it makes them feel better. Anyone who knows anything about bow hunting knows that only about a million things can go wrong, especially with a pulse rate of near heart attact range if you see a buck anywhere near that size! It is amazing how smart everyone else is when critiquing someone else on their ethics and shot placement, especially when they may not have ALL the details, not to mention how LUCKY they think you are. It sounds to me like you are quite a hunter, and with your record there is more than luck involved. Hard work, planning, experence and perseverance to name a few! Keep up the fun with your family and friends, that's what it's all about, but I think you already know that!!! Great story!

Additional Info

Blaine Marion of Hudson, WI developed a conservative management plan for the 160-acre plot he owns with his father that involved only shooting trophy bucks and leaving a large area undisturbed to act as a sanctuary. The father and son plan to grow bigger, healthier bucks on the property seems to have paid off, with Blaine taking this buck in October that, with a prelimiary score of 215 inches, may be the biggest nontypical buck out of Wisconsin this season.
