The 32-year-old steamfitter, who lives near the town of Pipe, about 15 minutes east of Fon Du Lac, only decided to put out a trail cam after a buddy saw a nice buck cross the road onto Weber’s land one July morning. “The first night I had pictures of a doe and what appeared to be a buck,” Weber says. “I thought that was pretty good for one night. Then two weeks went by without a single picture.”
After snagging trail cam photos of a potential state-record buck on his 30-acre Wisconsin farm in August, Jeff Weber knew he’d have to shake up his regular routine to put a tag on the trophy typical. “Every year we get bucks on camera in early fall and then never see them again,” Weber says. “I knew he’d be long gone by gun season.”
So the longtime firearms hunter bought a used compound bow, grabbed a couple of hay bales and a piece of cardboard, and started getting ready for the hunt of his life.

Fantastic achievement.
I bet Jeff is a bow hunter for life!
That is awesome I like the comment of a "boss who gives a scouting report and letting him off early to hunt" Thats Wisconsin this time of year lot of guys save up time off just for this time of year. It must be nice to have a boss who presumably is as dedicated a hunter as his employees. Great buck and congratulations on your new found skill and an awesome buck.
Take picture after picture, then sit and waite for unsuspecting deer to wander by. Enough practice and anyone can hit a target at 30 yards-90 feet. "Hunting"??????ambushing.
What a wonderful buck. Time and scouting paid off.
To tomterrymcphee...what do your comments even mean? You must be a tree hugger and, if so, why do you come to this site? Do you come here just to knock the hunters? What do your statements even mean? I wish I could reach through this screen, because I would straight up slap the hell out of you!
What this man has accomplished is amazing. He wasnt even a bow hunter. He took the time to pick up a new skill (bow and arrow) and practiced his tail end off and made his dreams come true. That is what life/living is all about (having a dream and working hard for something you want to accomplish.
It drives me nuts! Every time a big dream buck is posted on here people like you come out of the wood work to knock the person that harvested it...get a life and get off this site. Please dont come back either.
What? No high dollar lodge and tricked out bow? No sponsors or goofy hunting show? Just a used bow bought from a friend and 30 acres behind your house? Awesome reminder that hunting can still be as simple as it should be. Good job!
Great Buck and great story! Congrats!
To Kris24: GOOD MAN KRIS!!! Tell that useless b-----d all about it, 'cause he FOR SURE doesn't know jack s--t about what the rest of us are doing out there!! Anyone who hunts seriously would never make a TOTALLY DUMB ASS STATEMENT like that one!! His number of hours in the woods are probably the same as his IQ-that would be 3!!
What a great looking deer and good story. To bad it's such a crappy photo. Back of the truck, riding the deer does not do justice to capture the moment of the hunt of his life.

My apologies for multiple posts a responding before viewing the other pics.
What an awesome buck, that is amazing, congratulations. To tomterry do you really believe you are doing any good on a hunting site it just tends to drive my spirit even more when i see comments like this. Not only are you ignorant about the skill of bow shooting and hunting, you are knocking a group who are probably the most passionate hunting sector on the face of the earth, I suppose if your words of condemnation were only designed to get a response they were effective, albeit fruitless because in the end you are only driving our spirit more.
That is ONE FANTASTIC DEER!! none of my buisnes I guess, but what county of WISC?
awesome buck, awesome tactics, congrats on truly hunting a fine deer!
nice buck man where did u kill it
A story like this makes waking up at 4 every day to get into the woods a lot easier to a kid like me who has yet to get his first deer with a bow. Great story, even greater deer
Nice Buck! congrats and isn't it great when all the hard work pays off?! To troyalexander: keep at it and you will stick one and its great to know there are still some young guys and gals gettin in the woods and not sittin in front if their X Box and eatin junkfood 24/7!!! To tomterrymcphee: If god didnt want us to hunt and eat deer he surely wouldnt have made them outta meat! i really despise the anti-hunter who sits around bad-mouthing us True Americans and talks about how cruel deer hunting is then goes and eats a big juicy burger!
"Take picture after picture, then sit and waite for unsuspecting deer to wander by."
UNSUSPECTING DEER? ROFL! This must be a troll. He can't possibly have a clue about wild animals.
"Enough practice and anyone can hit a target at 30 yards-90 feet."
Yes, but a target isn't a live deer. They don't often stand just where you want them to. They have a funny thing called legs that tend to take them other places. Fast.
Amazing buck but an even better story!! But its just to bad people like tom have to come on here and express their jealousy, you see it on every one of these posts of people shooting amazing bucks. Someone has to comment something negative because they cant do it themselves.
That is an awesome buck man, and there isn't a more exciting feeling than knowing all of your hard work paid off. Congratulations
Awesome Buck!! I patients pays off. Whether or not it's on a private ranch or out in the back country or even in your back yard. That monster could of just packed up and left the country when hunting season approached. It's still fair chase in my book. Awesome job. And just to clear things up, taking pictures is no different than setting up a trail camera along your favorite trail.... Again, congrats for this Monster buck.
Congrats on an absolute beauty. I saw some great bucks at www.peartreegameranch.com but not many at all like that. I missed a nice 160ish from 40 yards and almost started crying. Once again congrats on such a beauty.
Awesome deer!!!
agreed a nice deer but the real question is how much did u pay to play hunter.theres not much of a challenge when its premeditated.some say u can pet the deer before u shoot them
Super cool! I agree with whoever said this story so much better than the sorry hunting shows hunting high fences sponsored to the hilt.
A new bow hunter on his own land, picks the spot and makes the shot. WINNER!
GREAT JOB JEFF!!! My buddy has a farm near Horicon, he is waiting for one like that!!! It takes time, & most of all some luck, notice I said SOME because YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME!!
I'll trade you my fully furnished house on two acres in the city, my new Chevy truck, all my guns (I gotta keep my 1874 Sharps it goes to my son when I die)my office, some food in the fridge and my 401k for your 30 acres.
Hey Tomterry, Jeff has proved to us that he is a hunter now you prove to us that you're not an idiot. From your view point shame on Jeff for using his bow, why not a spear or a stone. Shame on you for nor speaking up sooner to point out our inconsistencies as hunters. Did you know we are laughing our butts off at your comments. We are sitting around the fireplace falling down with laughter at your feble attempt to make a difference in the world. The old show Jackass comes to mind when your comments are broght up, always trying to do the impossible... change a world that you are not even part of... still laughing while you sit moan and cry.
That is one impressive buck and one impressive effort to get it. Hat's off!
