Man, I hunt deer, and never have any qualms about shooting them, but this just about turns my stomach. What a sad death for such a great animal.

Not me, but my wife saw a doe Mule Deer walking across the Flaming Gorge Dam in Northeastern Utah, when she and another car from the opposite direction approached. The doe ran to the river side, looked over (which is 450+ ft down) and then promptly ran across the road on the dam and jumped over the reservoir side (which was about 40 ft to the water)into the water! A much softer landing but similar behavior exhibited.

Think how they tell us a deer eye sight is. With the snow, I wonder if it even knew it up there or did it think it was just jumping the rail?

he carries some mass threw the whole length of his beams, thats a really nice deer can only imagine what he would have looked like the next year... This is a crazy story im glad you shared it, also nice to see someone took the whole deer lot of road kill bucks in wisconsin get there heads chopped off and are left to rot.

I'm with Buckmeister; I shoot everything within reason and season, but it about kills me to run over something or kill something by accident. Just night and day different. This is sad, not something to take "hero pictures" of. Anybody who doesn't get that doesn't get hunting and sportsmanship.

It is really a sad sight to see an animal killed in this way. But, I think I know what might have happened here. Please forgive me for trying to make light of such a tragic occurance. Several years ago there was a song written about this same Grandmother who, during a Christmas Eve car ride to her son's house, got runned over by this very same deer. The only problem about the song was that Grandma did not die in the accident. They had to say that to make the song sell more records. So, the bad guy here is the Grandma because when she came face to face with that same eggnod stealing buck, she had no mercy. The buck recognized who he was dealing with. He was like a "deer in the headlights" and after seeing the look in Grandma's eyes, he knew without a shadow of doubt that his time here on this earth was done. Yes, he could have run over Grandma,again, and yes, he knew that this time he would have to finish the job but he had caught so much hell from his other buck buddies that he couldn't face them again. So, with a 10 second hesitation to bow his huge rack and say how sorry he was to little 8 yr. Jimmy for not allowing him to shoot him in Jimmy's Dad's shooting house on Christmas Day. Big buck had watched little Jimmy grow up and it was about 6 days after that frightful night 4 yrs. ago that big buck had decided that he couldn't take the abuse from his Mother and his 4 sons any longer. So, he hid in the adjoining hay field year after year waiting for little Jimmy to grow older because it was little Jimmy's Grandma that he had runned over on that cloudy, snowey Christmas Eve night. And now, you know the rest of the story.

Why wold anyone want their picture taken with an animal that leaped to it
s death in panic?
It's a sad ending. The photos and hoopala are disrespectful of nature to say the least

Id be quartering that monster then mounting that beautiful rack on my wall somewhere. Shame he was so unhappy that he jumped. Whats this world coming to even the deers cant hack it.
