David, nice report of cool new rifles from SHOT, but all bolt actions? What about best new auto-loaders? Or the best new black rifles?

Of all the new stuff around I just can't figure out why anyone would want a 7 mag. Such an out of date cartridge design.

I am with 2bigabear----- Let's talk a little more about the Nosler M48 Professional. I hope some of the odd ball calibers get chambered.

Can't figure out why anyone would want a 7mm mag??? It might be that factory ammo is readily available with bullets weighing anywhere from 139 grs - 175 grs. More selection than 7mm wsm, 7mm saum, 7mm ultra, 7mm stw, 7mm-08, 280..... I noticed you didnt knock .284 caliber which is good because it is one of the finest around. good ballistic coefficient good sectional density to get the job done!!!

TC can call it whatever they want. It is still one ugly gun. And whoever picked it as one of 2012's best must have a fat wallet bout now.

the dimension rifle is certainly unconventional but there's a lot to like about the modular system. ugly? so am i but i can shoot. if this one handles and shoots it would make a one-rifle person very happy. especially at that price point.

The new T/C is probably my favorite new rifle from the ones I've seen from the shot show this year, and I don't think it's ugly. I like the new quick change system from mossberg to.

Dave: Your pricing is way off on the T/C Dimension Rifle.. The rifle retails for $670. The extra barrels are $250.00 and the bolt to go with it is $162.00 making a total of $412.00 to go to another caliber out of the letter range.

Get your facts right before you print it!!

I like the Montana DGR,The Jack O'Connor Edition,The Barret,Don't need another Remington 700 (I have 2 30/06 & 375 H&H the rest do do anything for me.

Lose all iron sights. Hunting would be much improved with everyone using only bolt actions with scopes, though single shots are fine too. And I don't want to hear about the 30/30 legacy because it only belongs in museums.

Isn't it funny. If we all had the same likes and dislikes we'd still be throwing rocks at each other. Nice article, well writen and photos without the glamorous girls holding them was a better format. Field & Stream , not Grins & Skins

I saw them use this on tv cant remember which hunting show but having a couple different calibers in one would be nice I just hate the stock. Call me when they get a wood stock or some aftermarket wood stocks come out.

I like the looks of the new TC Rifle then again i like unconventional things. I like the idea of changing for different calibers.

This article should have been best BOLT ACTION Rifles of 2012. No good semi autos, levers or pumps this year?

Additional Info

There were more exhibitors and more atendees at this year's SHOT Show than ever before. That means more guns than one could ever see, but we did our best to find the best. Here are David E. Petzal and John Snow's picks for the best rifles from the show floor.
