A Tale of 2 Bullets double click to read
The large bullet is a 250 grain Speer hot core fired at 2450 fps from a 350 Rem Mag. into a Spruce log. The smaller bullet is for comparison. It is a 170 grain flat point from a 30-30 Winchester found just under the skin of a very dead 200 lb Florida pig. Keep in mind the larger bullet passed thru a 12-14" log and 2" into another log and held together that well.
Species:
Other Big Game
Where: Alaska
Method:
Rifle
When: at 07:00 pm
Looks like both performed well.
Very interesting. I can see why that good old 30-30 has accounted for more deer than just about anything else... these bullets have been doing this for a LONG time. Pretty good weight retention on the 250gr Speer too considering log penetration!
