Irish Elk Skull and Antlers, Caher Castle, Caher, Ireland
I took this photo of the skull and Antlers of the extinct Irish Elk (Megaloceros giganteus) in Caher Castle, Caher, Irish Republic in July, 2008. The Antler spread is almost 10 feet! The skull and antlers were recovered from an Irish peat bog and as I understood have hung in the castle since the early 1800's. The specimen is well over 11,000 years old.
