Looks like a stab alright. And if the movement that activated the camera was the stabbing movement itself, then blood wouldn't necessarily already be visible. Also, consider that the antler is in sense acting as a plug, compacting the flesh and blood vessels and restricting blood flow(similar to a tourniquet). And its not like the deer being stabbed would just stand there and take it so you could see the blood. I'm betting that the next picture captured only contained the attacker, or at least his tail as he gave chase.
No blood leads me to believe that the little buck is just lifting its head up under the neck and folding the skin around the spike making it look like it has penetrated the neck.
Cool pic either way.
We all talk about needing to sharpen our arrows to get great cutting ability, and these guys are built to spar, especially int he neck area. Try taking a blunt knife next year and cutting into the neck of a deer, and I doubt it would go in. I am with the guys who say that it isn't an entry wound, but just a jab or poke. However, great shot, and hopefully they will still be around come opening day!

It does look a bit like a stab. Was there blood anywhere around this photo-site?
Yes it does! Hes getting him right in the neck. Nice picture.
Total stabbage.
Wow, that sure does look like a stab! The deer being stabed doesn't seem to be that bothered though!?

i think its more like he is trying to get him to spar rather than an actual stab . more like a poke to get his attention .
