Whitetail buck, opening day 1977
Hit this nice buck on the fly about 70 yards above me in steep country. Not a good shot and he disappeared. No blood and impossible to track him. Finally gave up. Figured I'd missed. Then shot a dry doe muley at the top of mountain. As I was bringing her down I literally stepped on the buck lying dead. Gut shot and fat plugged the hole.
Species:
Whitetail
Method:
Rifle
When: at 12:00 am
I muffed getting a shot at a herd of elk right in front of me just before it was light enough to shoot. Jumped the gun. Dad went back with me the second day and I brought out the doe with his tag on it. Too tired to drive back to university so I stayed another day. Following morning we went to the golf course and I shot a nice big cow elk.
Is that an Opel GT under that buck? Did the elk go up there, too? Had to be quite the sight.
It is an Opal GT. Great car. Decades ahead of its time. I was with my dad when I shot the big cow elk two days later. We brought it home in his pickup. Drove right out onto the fairway and winched her into the back of the truck. The Opal broght home a couple of deer.
