Muskox
This is an earlier photo that was resized to try to improve quality:
I had drawn a 2008 muskox tag on Nunivak Island and it would be a great place to try to take a big game animal with my homemade .53 rifle. I hunted the first week of March and the weather was still very raw. I will never forget how I felt as I walked over to him, his dark fur against an endless white background.
Species:
Other Big Game
Method:
Blackpowder
When: at 12:00 am
very cool. what do you do with meat/hide/head/horns? is this something the locals up there get to eat thanks to you?
Do you have a picture of how you kept this memory alive in the man cave?
very cool, homemade gun!!
The meat was shipped air freight to Anchorage, the head mount hangs out in "Man Land" and the back skin is hanging on the wall. I have given away a lot of the meat but you have to be setting at my dining room table to get it! The locals get a lot of meat given to them from non-resident hunters and there are local registration hunts for cows every year. I will try to post a picture of "Man Land" after I get the place mucked out a little.
