While flyfishing on the Rogue River over the weekend I watched a hen merganzer with her little brood trying to slip up the side of the river. My wife was fishing over there close to the bank and the birds kept approaching her,but always stopped and backed off. Finally the hen took her train of ducklings mid-stream where they hurriedly past by upriver.
