The rut is mostly over in the Midwest, and I've already seen at least three reports of hunters shooting bucks with their antlers locked (for one, visit "hunter shoots two-headed buck" in Whitetail 365). I'm convinced that whitetail bucks fight a lot more than we imagine.
Thankfully, they don't lock antlers very often, because the results for the participants are rarely good. Sometimes, however, one of the deer gets lucky. South Dakota reader Sherry Bolding sent us the following amazing story, plus the photos. Thanks Sherry!
