When photographer Jason Lindsey rode along with the Illinois River Biological Station research team to witness the area's invasive flying silver carp, which the scientists were collecting by electroshocking the water, he wasn't expecting to see so much action. "We were surrounded by fish," he says of the roughly 500 carp that biologists on board estimated were jumping at once. "One of them hit my assistant in the face."
