SCI's Apprentice Hunter Program
The Safari Club International's Apprentice Hunter Program takes place at Indianhead Ranch in Del Rio, Texas and the Willow Lake Sportsman's Club in Three Rivers, Michigan. The six-day sessions run throughout the summer. Cost is $1095 at Indianhead for campers age 12-17; $1200 at Willow Lake for campers 11-15. NRA Whittington Adventure Camp
The NRA's Whittington Center in New Mexico is the site of a two-week camp where kids shoot all kinds of firearms and learn survival and hunting skills. nrawc.org/adventure.asp
Deep Portage Conservation Reserve
Located in the wilds of northern Minnesota, Deep Portage holds "Forkhorn" deer hunting camps sponsored by the Minnesota Deer Hunter's Association, a Ruffed Grouse Society/Pheasants Forever upland bird hunting camp and a fishing camp. Deep-portage.org
Camp Woodie
Run by the South Carolina Waterfowl Association, Camp Woodie teaches duck hunting skills and wetlands conservation. Kids shoot, net their own bait and fish with it, canoe, build blinds and practice calling among other activities. Scwa.org
