2008 FIELD & STREAM TOTAL OUTDOORSMAN CHALLENGE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS & REGULATIONS

The 2008 Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge (the “Challenge”) will be produced and organized by Blue 3 Productions, Inc. and Field and Stream Magazine (the “Organizer”(s)).


ELIGIBILITY: Subject to the additional restrictions below, the Challenge is open to United States residents (excluding Puerto Rico residents) regardless of state of residency. Applicants must be 21 on or before the date they are selected to compete. All applicants must be in excellent physical and mental health and must not have been convicted of a felony at any time or of a violation of any fish and game-related law or regulation. Applicants must be available to attend and participate for the duration of all scheduled events required for the competition (3-4 days for the Championship, 1 day for the Qualifiers and/or Regionals) and each applicant must be willing to travel to the appropriate Challenge location. Applicants must have experience in both hunting and fishing (including proficiency with rifles, shotguns and bows). All related travel and lodging requirements will be at applicant’s sole expense. Full time benefited employees of Blue 3 Productions, Inc., Bonnier Corporation or other Challenge sponsors and each of their respective affiliated companies, advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with any such employees, are not eligible to enter to win. The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, children and grandchildren.

 


HOW TO ENTER:


Fully completed and signed applications can be submitted at participating Bass Pro Shop locations. Qualifier Stores and Dates are as follows: (Las Vegas, NV April 12, 19, 20; Mesa, AZ April 4, 5, 6; Rancho Cucamonga, CA April 11, 12, 13; Pearl, MS March 22, April 12, 22; Macon, GA April 18, 19, 20; Myrtle Beach, SC April 25, 26, 27; Orlando, FL May 10; Pearland, TX April 4, 5, 6; Katy, TX April 11, 12, 13; Denham Springs, LA April 18, 19, 20; San Antonio, TX May 16, 17, 18; Grapevine, TX May 31; Clarksville, IN April 18, 19, 20; Portage, IN May 9, 10, 11; Nashville, TN May 9, 10, 11; Foxborough, MA May 10, 17, 18; Cincinnati, OH May 16, 17, 18; Auburn Hills, MI April 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27; Harrisburg, PA June 21; Olathe, KS April 12, May 25, June 11; Columbia, MO May 16, 17, 18; Gurnee, IL May 2, 3, 4; Bolingbrook, IL May 16, 17, 18; Independence, MO June 28).  A one time only consumer challenge will be held at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, TN on June 6, 2008.
 To be considered for eligibility to compete as a Field & Stream Reader in the final challenge to take place in Springfield, MO: September 5-7, 2008.
There is no fee to apply. Organizer will not be responsible for incomplete or illegible applications or for applications not received for any reason, including, without limitation, failure or malfunction of any communications network or equipment or computer software or hardware. All applications become property of Organizer and none will be returned. Due to the large number of applications anticipated, Organizer will not be able to answer any questions about the receipt or status of any application. Return receipt or delivery confirmation is the sole responsibility of the applicant. Organizer reserves the right to contact applicants to ask additional questions and/or conduct phone interviews with references or other third-parties to gather additional information relating to an applicant’s background and experience as it pertains to the Challenge.

 

 

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:


BASS PRO SHOPS QUALIFIERS: a maximum of sixty (50) outdoorsman will be selected to participate in each Qualifier Day at the participating Bass Pro Shop locations. The top six (6) competitors from each participating store will receive an invite to one Regional Qualifier: (Rancho Cucamonga, CA May 3; Orlando, FL May 10; Grapevine, TX May 31; Nashville, TN June 6; Harrisburg, PA June 21; Independence, MO June 28)

 

FINAL CHALLENGE: a maximum of sixteen (16) outdoorsman will be selected to participate in the Final Challenge. An automatic invitation will be extended to the 2006 Challenge 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.  Twelve (12) 1st  and 2nd place winners from Bass Pro Shops Regional Qualifiers, and one (1) Wild Card selection will be selected to participate in the Final Challenge.
The individuals selected as participants, in, or alternates for, the Challenge will be listed on http://www.fieldandstream.com/totaloutdoorsman and the individual will be notified by telephone or email. Bass Pro Regional participants will be announced as follows: (Rancho Cucamonga, CA May 3; Orlando, FL May 10; Grapevine, TX May 31; Nashville, TN June 6; Harrisburg, PA June 21; Independence, MO June 28) and Wild Card selections will be announced July 15, 2008. The applicants chosen for the Challenge are solely responsible for all costs and expenses of transportation and lodging associated with their participation in the Challenge.  If any applicant or participant withdraws or becomes unavailable for any reason for any Challenge-related event, he or she will be disqualified, forfeit the right to any prize, and be replaced by an alternate participant at the sole discretion of the Organizer.

 

PRIZES:  First and Second Place from the Regional Qualifiers will each receive a one hundred and fifty ($150) travel voucher. For the Final Challenge, First Place will receive twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) in total of cash and prizes, Second Place will receive two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) in cash, Third Place will receive two thousand dollars ($2,000) in cash, Fourth through Eighth Place will receive eight hundred dollars ($800) each in cash, Ninth through Sixteenth Place will receive six hundred dollars ($600) each in cash. Winners may waive their right to receive prizes. Prizes are not assignable and nontransferable. Winners are solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes on their prizes.

 

RESERVATION OF RIGHTS: Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant for any reason, including, without limitation, acting in an unsafe, unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner and/or with intent to intimidate, threaten or harass, or harm another person. Removal or disqualification of a participant will result in removal or disqualification and forfeiture of his or her rights and interests in any prize. All decisions with respect to the removal, disqualification, replacement and/or addition of participants or teams shall be made by Organizer and Challenge judges in their sole discretion and shall be final and binding in all respects. Failure to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, or the Challenge Rules, may result in applicants or participant’s disqualification, and the forfeiture of his or her interest in any prize. Organizer reserves the right to amend these Official Rules and Eligibility requirements, and/or the Challenge Rules at any time in its sole discretion, and applicants and participants shall have no recourse for any such changes or for any failure (whether inadvertent or otherwise) by Organizer, Challenge judges or other participants to follow the stated rules. Organizer also reserves the right to modify and make additions to and/or deletions from the schedule of Challenge events and to change the date, time, location or format of any Challenge-related event. Organizer reserves the right not to conduct the Challenge. Participants may be required to execute further releases, documents and instruments, as Organizer deems necessary in its discretion. In the event that the Challenge is canceled, no prizes will be awarded. If the Challenge is cancelled for any reason, participants will not be reimbursed or otherwise compensated for any costs or expenses associated with their participation in the competition. Sponsors, and the display of any nationally or internally recognizable logos, trademarks, or trade names on any participants’ apparel or equipment, is subject to Organizers prior approval at Organizer’s sole discretion.

 

PARTICIPATION: By participating in the Challenge, applicants agree to be bound by these Official Rules, the Challenge Rules, and all decisions of Organizer and the judges. Organizer and judges reserve the right to disqualify any persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of the Challenge as solely determined by Organizer and/or judges.


CONSTRUCTION: The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.


DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Except where prohibited, participation in the Challenge constitutes an agreement that: (1) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Challenge, participation therein, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of class action and exclusively by arbitration under the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association in New York, NY, USA; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including only costs associated with entering the Challenge but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.


ORGANIZER: The Challenge will be produced and organized Blue 3 Productions, Inc. (“the Organizer”), for Field and Stream Magazine  and Bass Pro Shops. The decisions of Organizer and Challenge Judges regarding the eligibility, selection and elimination of participants, the selection of finalists and winners, and the production and administration of Challenge-related events, and all other aspects of the Challenge, shall be final and binding in all respects. Organizer will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the Challenge.
