I second the 12 gauge idea! Water skeet! Just not in the line of fire with another boat!

I wish my Grandfather was still alive, he'd love to look at some to these old shots. That guy really gave me an appreciation for the water and the woods. I make it a point to keep my Canon (oh yeah and the camera too) in the truck all the time because I don't want to deny shots like these from the next generation.

Last year, we put out a call for photos of  ladies who knew how to get it done on the water. Here's what we got. Watch out fellas, these gals can fish!

Nope 42 has a better hat! :P Seriously, though I noticed a serious lack of pictures of women South of the Mason-Dixon. I know our Ladies know how to fish so I'm throwing down the glovc. Lets represent and get some photos in to F & S! Oh yeah FLA doesn't count ;P

  • The Model 70 Reborn
    15

In 1936, Winchester Repeating Arms brought forth a rifle that was as close to a masterpiece as a firearm can be: the Model 70. Boasting the best trigger ever put on a sporting rifle, it was handsome, dead reliable and, for its time, accurate. It was a complex gun to make, but since labor was cheap at the time this was not a factor, and the Model 70s that were produced before World War II were beautifully made.

I loved the model 70 Feather Weight and I will probably buy the new one. It along with thte Ruger M77 International are two rifles that just jump out at me when I open the safe. I love the looks of them! I truely hope that the model 70 lives on there are a few out there that will shoot the hair off a nat's A$$ but only a few, I'd love to see that be the norm rather than the exception.

My only critisism is that they didn't put in the Kel Tec PLR 16 I would like to see something on it.

A few words; First the top comment created a lot of drama here, well that's normal. The first AR created a drama in the military when it came out 60 years ago. Its ok it lived and is a great rifle. Secondly I hated the rifles that we had in basic, I think they issed worn out POS but the new M-4s are the $$IT! I love them you can get in and out of you HMVEE a lot easier, they are lighter and more pointable than any rifle that I have ever seen. Thirdly I have shot everything from an AK, AR, SKS, 10-22, and several civilian ARs they are great guns! I currently have an AR-10 and love it for anything I would shoot with my bolt gun. It will lay em down and group like a bolt! Fourthly and this should have been first is that this is the best written review that I have read about the AR it is very informative. Guys that critisize this gun don't KNOW this gun. It's potential is unlimited, just because a few @$$Holes use it to shoot up a school or whatever does NOT make it a bad rifle. It SAVED a lot of people during Katrina, it continues to save lives in Iraq and Afganistan, and it IS THE PEOPLE'S rifle! Gentlemen I've just made it back from round two in Iraq and this current configuration rocks! CB

  • Merwin: Tales From The Boat Ramp
    24

I fish with a bunch of guys that drive trucks for a living so when we went Friday and some JACK@$$ has his little Ford Escort parked in the backing lane and was actually fishing on the ramp they just backed around the car turned the 90 to hit the ramp and put her in. I'm not bad at backing myself but that feat was awesome. I've also been caught on a frozen ramp during duck season. No fun! But we got out and learned to bring 2 trucks and enough rope! Seeing the Jet Skis and truck in the water though well, PRICELESS!

  • Start a Survival Fire With a Bullet
    34

Gunpowder can provide a hot flame to ignite damp tinder. Tap out a bullet to access the powder. Pour a small pile of powder onto a fabric square and place the cloth onto a nest of tinder. Ignite the driest tinder and stand back. The powder will flare up long enough to help dry out and catch fire to the damp tinder.

I go with Clay on this one, if you're out and wet, wind is blowing and the leaves are wet then you're going to use about 10 rounds to get a fire started or you could use one cotton ball or about a 1/4 stick of fire starter, and either will burn for about 10 minutes. I will give you CPT Bs unscientific example I have pulled the bullet on a 50 BMG which is some of the slowest burning powders out there and laid a line Yosimity Sam style in the dirt. You light the powder and you will have about 5-10 seconds worth of fire. Thats dry ground, no wind perfect conditions. Now heres the difference a 50 holds about 5 times as much powder as you're rifle cartridge, burns about 2 times as slow and I assume most of you guys aren't lugging a 50 around for deer. I think you're seeing my point by now. Carry 2-3 cotton balls, a lighter, or fire starter sticks. Now that we've worked through that one, one more thing please don't try to pour it out through the primer hole..... Very bad things will happen if you go that way! :)
