My dad just started elk hunting with his open sighted 375. He use to hunt with his 300 win mag, but it takes too long to draw up on an elk. He switched to his lever action because he will be able to fling more lead at an elk in less time. It also helps his shooting if the elk is at close range.

Yes because they are wanting to mate. Sometimes they won't notice you as well because they are too busy looking for does. The best thing to do is set up a blind or treestand near a feeding and bedding area where does go and wait. A buck following a doe will evetually wander past your stand.

Here in mOnatana it is very hard to find primers, powder and lead. But mostly primers. A box of a 1000 primers goes for 50 bucks. It is get their early in hte stores or not get any primers at all. The ammo prices for middle end bullets are really expensive too. I know a guy who knows a guy that bought hundreds of AR-15's but military scopes on all of them, put bipods on htem, got a buch of bannana clips and loaded them with ammo. Every third round was a tracer. He also had a ridiculous amount of ammo. I think this was in Nevada or Utah somewhere. But what I learned form this guy is that people are;nt fooling around when it commes to hogging up all of the ammo and primers.
