Okay, folks. The response to the last Man’s Best Friend caption contest was spectacular, and many of you expressed desire for another chance to win big. So here it comes.
We’ve got a pretty great image of, ummm, an atypical gun dog, and we need your editorial touch.
One of the finest presents my wife ever gave me long before we were married was a Luhr Jensen Big Chief wood smoker. I have a heroin-like addiction to smoked salmon and trout, lox, and the ever-so-delicious Scandanavian gravlax. Needless to say this was a fine gift, and for a while there I found it necessary to treat every fish I kept for the table to an applewood or hickory smoking. Bring a nice platter of smoked fish you caught to a party and folks are impressed. It's fun to look fancy.
Sorry folks. This was supposed to go up on Friday, but I ran into a slight holdup. Anyway, here’s buck #3. (Click here if you missed buck #1, and here for buck #2.) As you can see, we’re taking the training wheels off. No more clean 8s or 10s. Instead, this week’s buck has just enough junk to make things interesting. (Next week’s will have just enough to make things brutally difficult).
A Fairfield man used a Samurai sword Wednesday afternoon to defend his dog from an attack by what appears to have been a large raccoon.
Marquel Dawson, 19, was walking with Stunna, a 2-year-old pit bull-German shepherd mix, near his home on Fairview Place when the dog, which was unleashed, noticed something, darted into the bushes and started tussling with another animal, Dawson said.
So the kids are about that age where my wife and I are thinking about getting a swing set for the backyard. And, truth be known, there isn’t as much venison in the freezer this year as I would like. So you can imagine how excited I was to see this Craigslist post:

Wow! How do you mistaken a racoon for a mountain lion? Well, atleast he could defend his dog.
