Deer Hunting
Q:We are shotgun only where I hunt in Wisconsin but handguns do get past the law. With this in mind I am considering a TC contender pistol in 6.8 rem spc. My question is, do any of you have experience with this cartridge, and will the recoil be manageable in a handgun? If you think this will make a poor handgun cartridge what would you suggest in its place?

Q:Here in Newton the redhorse are running hard. Do any of you net suckers and if so what do you do with them. I give them to a friend of mine who is a dog sledder and he freezes them to use as dog food on the trail.

Q:With Mr. Heavey's latest column in mind, have you ever picked up a road kill? I personally have picked up 3 deer, all fresh, I witnessed police finishing 2 and the truck that struck the 3rd was still at the scene when I took the deer. If you have picked one up, tell us about it, and if not why not?

Q:When i take my venison trimmings in to be ground up my butcher shop adds 1/3 pork. The idea is that venison is so lean you need some fattier meat in there to get it to stay together when you cook it. Do any of you have beef added? Or pork in a different ratio? Or do you not add anything?

Q:Is anybody else as irritated by the multiple postings of the same question as I am? Is this the fault of the people running the website or something the question askers are doing?

Q:I am looking at either a 45 or 50 cal muzzle loader for deer hunting in Wisconsin. Since most saboted bullets in 50 cal are actually 44 or 45 cal in diameter anyway wouldn't I be better off using a 45 cal powerbelt bullet in a 45 cal gun? The other problem is the availability of 45 caliber accessories and i am afraid of being stuck in 45 caliber no mans land if the next greatest thing comes out in 50 cal only.

Q:Does anybody who posts answers to questions actually go back and follow up to see if their information was useful? I have tried this but it is a lot of sifting through old stuff. Perhaps F&S can come up with a way to organize questions that you personally have answered to help with follow up. Comments anyone?
